The game of chess is widely considered by a lot of people to be the oldest of all the board games. This game is a test of skill and strategy that is played by millions all over the world. The modern chess set has 32 pieces, 16 black and 16 white, on a board comprised of 64 squares. There are different types of chess sets ranging from the skull chess set to cheap plastic sets to beautiful handmade glass chess sets that cost considerably more.
On the cheaper end, some chess sets can be had for very little. Many chess sets come with plastic pieces and boards that are usually bundled with pieces for the other popular board game that can be played on the same board which is called checkers. These plastic chess sets are a great way to start learning the game with little investment in equipment. Once you have mastered the game, you can use more sophisticated chess sets to match your improved game.
